Tartan House

Following a dramatic transformation, this 1883 property has restarted its life as a high-end scotch bar/cocktail lounge and premium short-term rental units. Extensive demolition and critical stabilization were necessary due to the advanced deterioration of the original building. Assisting the owner in an expert capacity, WorK’s initial design efforts included provisions to seek historic tax credits through the National Park Service. This project along Louisville’s “Butcher Block” has spurred adjacent property owner’s improvements, providing a revitalized area that connects the East Market District and Butchertown neighborhoods.
