University of Louisville renovates new Hite Art Institute’s Master of Fine Arts Program
The transformation of a warehouse in Portland into an academic space filled with art studios and archaeology labs is almost complete, marking a major expansion of the University of Louisville’s presence in west Louisville that could spark new partnerships.
After well over a year of renovations, the sprawling brick building at 1606 Rowan St. will soon be home to studios for the Hite Art Institute’s Master of Fine Arts program at the university and new workspaces for the archaeology program. It will also house collections of archaeological artifacts.
